The dreamscape requires a left mouse button to select and drag the platforms. The "R" key will come in quite handy to rotate whatever you find on your adventures.

All you must do is get the ball to the exit, through whatever means necessary...

The dreamscape:

You wake up, the room is cold and dark, in a corner you can hear something quietly crying. Nearby a figure watches you.

"Something new has found us." he says to no one in particular. "I am Tom?" he continues, "Welcome to the dreamscape."

You stand and as your eyes begin to adjust you realize just how strange your situation really is. You are in a large room, tall wooden walls rise on all sides, above you what appears to be a ramp angles down to face the floor where you stand. You hear a clunk and watch as a ball rolls off the ramp and falls to the ground below, where it vanishes into the floor. You wonder if you imagined it or if the ball really did just vanish.

As you begin to explore your new surroundings, like an animal just stepping out into its new cage, you find a strange wooden plank, just resting in the corner, obviously a leftover from when this room was constructed. You wonder then, who built this room, and what reason they could have for creating such a place.

You look back towards Tom? and wonder (and not for the last time) if this is all just a dream. Where Tom?'s legs and body should be is the body of a crustacean, large as a man with four legs and four arms, at the end of each, where hands belong, rests a large claw.

"you're here now." a struggling voice reaches your ears, "and there is no leaving."

You turn to see the source of this new voice. A strange little man approaches you, his head round and puffy, like a marshmallow, his body, if you can call it that, appears to be stuck inside a plastic tube, in much the same way as a fish. The man waddles towards you and extends a bloated hand.

"call me pete." he says now.

You extend an arm to meet his, you tell him your name and, as quickly as he appeared, Pete is gone, retreated back into the darkness.

You turn to Tom? who has watched this entire encounter in silence and tell him that you will find a way out of here, that you will not be trapped so easily.

Tom? scuttles closer to you and says, "That is what the last one said too and now look at him."

Tom gestures towards the darkness, where the faint sobbing can be heard. You step forward, and the darkness seems to part around you until you find yourself standing in a single beam of moonlight. In the middle of it is something you can only describe as Agony.

Agony turns its tear-streaked face to look at you, and in its eyes, you see the sadness only felt by those who have truly lost everything. As you look into its mournful eyes Agony begins to cry again, a deeply painful sound which carries with it all the failures of someone who has been here longer than anyone can know.

You cannot attempt to understand the pain which Agony holds within, you can only hope you never know the force which drove it to such an end. You turn and walk away, away from the inexplicable moonlight, away from Agony, and away from the pain which you know now waits for you in the end.

Back where you started now you find Tom? waiting for you.

"I can never bear to stay with it long." Tom? says to you, "Poor thing has seen infinity, he did escape you know..."

You ask Tom? what he means.

"Oh yes, didn't you realize? That poor creature escaped here, and when it saw what waited for it outside it was too much. It came back and how never been the same since. Pete thinks it saw the Out."

The Out? You've never heard of such a place. You ask Tom? what it is.

"The Out." He says, "The place where all lost go. Infinity, some call it, but the Out is far bigger. Infinity is merely a drop of water in the ocean that is the Out. The Out is the place where all dreams are made, they say that nightmares hide there, that the Out is incomprehensibly mad."

The Out. You wonder if that is truly what drove Agony to madness. If it really did see the Out that would explain why it broken. Infinity alone will drive something crazy; you cannot imagine the damage which would be caused by something larger.

You know then you must escape, the unknowable horrors of the Out cannot sway you. You have to know, you have to see what lays beyond the confines of this room.

You rush back to the plank you found in the corner. You quickly grab it and return to where the ball falls from the ramp. You have a plan. You will see infinity, even if you are destined to become like Agony.

Helpful tips from someone who has seen the Out:

  • Getting the ball to hit a creature may be useful, you never know until you assault someone
  • The out isn't what you think it is. You must decide, is it really worth it to hurt those that which is now for the chance to see all that will be?
  • Tom? can't feel pain, don't worry about hurting him
  • Pete is really stuck, he would love your help
  • Agony is beyond help; you may as well use it while it is here
